In Partnership with Diamond Schmitt Architects

In collaboration with Diamond Schmitt, Two Row Architect is excited to be working on a new 500-bed residence building for the University of Waterloo’s main campus, set to open fall 2026. Helping to tackle ongoing housing scarcity in the region and help boost student wellbeing and retention, this residence will be designed for mixed-year accommodation.

Working with the Office of Indigenous Relations at the University of Waterloo and local Indigenous community members, this project is putting the university’s commitment to reconciliation into practice. Key features include a community healing garden to for the cultivation of traditional medicine plants,  gathering spaces equipped for ceremonies, and space for live-in Elders to meet with students. Alongside living spaces, the residence will house counselling, wellness and sensory spaces. Sustainability will be a priority, and the building is planned to be net-neutral in terms of carbon and energy.
